Sunday 22nd July

In trust and faith we bring our needs to our loving shepherd:

• We pray for those in leadership in the Church: that they find the support they need to continue to shepherd our flock with love and wisdom.

• As we celebrate the news that Sister Ban Madleen from Iraq has been granted a visa to visit her family in Britain we pray for anyone who is being unjustly denied access to their family: we ask that policy makers are guided by compassion and concern for people as individuals, worthy of dignity and respect.

• We pray for the courage to face our past, as individuals and as a Church: may we have the humility to recognise where mistakes have been made, the grace to ask for forgiveness and the strength to move forward in hope.

• We pray for anyone who is suffering because of the recent hot, dry weather: may we all take seriously our responsibility to care for the earth and conserve water, mindful of the abundance we usually enjoy.

• Jesus invited his friends to “come away” and “rest for a while”. We pray for everyone who is beginning their summer holiday this weekend: we ask that they travel safely and, like the apostles, return refreshed and renewed ready for the demands of their daily life.

Heavenly Father, graciously hear and grant our prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
